Our Board of Directors

Jeff Rogers

Jeff Rogers

President

After 40 years of working for a Japanese electronic component manufacturer, Jeff recently retired (June 2024). During this time, he has served on multiple boards (Somebody Cares St. Augustine for 10+ year and Only Hope Prison Ministry for the past 7 years).

Recently the founder of Somebody Cares St. Augustine (John Clifton) asked Jeff if he would consider taking on the President role. Big shoes to fill.  He humbly accepted the role effective July 1, 2024 and is working with John and the other BOD members who have a passionate heart to serve in the name of Jesus.

Jeff has been married to his wife Karen since 1999 and together they have six children, 5 grandchildren and have called St. Augustine home since 2010.  Jeff has devoted his life to following Jesus Christ and is looking forward to working with the SCSA team bringing the love of Christ to the local community.

Eric Woertz

Eric Woertz

Vice President

Eric has a passion for serving homeless students, having been forced at the age of 16 to live on his own. Luckily, he had a grandfather help him financially to keep him afloat and loving Christians who helped him through some very difficult years dealing with a parent who suffered from alcoholism while having to take care of himself. Being now a grandfather, he wants to return that love to homeless students. He feels his teenage experience has equipped him with both understanding and compassion needed to assist with unaccompanied youth.

Eric is a graduate of Indiana University (history with a minor in Business) and Roosevelt University (Graduate Legal Studies Program). After working as a paralegal for 2 years and another 2 years with The Economic Development Council/Chamber of Commerce in Fort Pierce, FL, he worked 26 years with Indian River State College as a reports coordinator and database administrator. He was a board treasurer of the St. Lucie County ARC and Chairman of the State Reports Coordinators in Florida.

Eric strongly supports Somebody Cares St. Augustine’s commitment to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the community. As Vice President of SCSA, he meets monthly with the county’s ASSIST program and Faith-based Advisory Council, helps coordinate support for the Evelyn Hamblen Center, presents scholarships to homeless students, and maintains the SCSA newsletter.

Eric has lived in St. Augustine for 7 years with his wife Stephanie. A regular attendee of Anastasia Church in St. Augustine Beach, Eric and his wife enjoy having their daughter, stepson, and 4 grandchildren all living near them in St. Augustine.

Neill Robins

Neill has served as a federal law enforcement officer for 29 years before transitioning to support the Department of the Navy’s Critical Infrastructure program at the Pentagon working as a defense contractor for a decade.

John Clifton

John Clifton

Founder

Following a successful 37 year career in Inflight Foodservice Sales and Marketing, John retired in 2008. A year after founding Somebody Cares St. Augustine.

SCSA was formed in 2007 and began to unite the big C church in St. Augustine through CareFest, That first year there were less than a dozen churches who participated. Over the years CareFest grew and blessed the community every year through 2018. In the 12 years that CareFest was an annual event in St.  Augustine, over 8,000 volunteers from 34 different churches and denominations completed 929 projects, which accounted for over 40,500 community service hours and over $1,200,000.00 in goods and services. More importantly thousands of lives have been impacted positively, as His people united to serve their community.

In 2011 John was asked to sit on the St. Johns County School Districts Unaccompanied Youth Advisory Board. This Board was formed to find solutions and unite the community to provide for the needs of Homeless Students in the county. John’s task on this board was to unite the Faith Based Community to meet these needs. This was the beginning of Somebody Cares 4 Kids, which annually provides a college scholarship, emergency shelter, food, clothing, shoes, gas cards, school fees, school supplies, field trips, physicals, laptops etc. to the over 600 homeless students in St. Johns County.

John also sits on the Faith Based Advisory Board for the St. Johns County School District.,

“Since the founding of Somebody Cares St. Augustine in 2007 God has taken me on an amazing personal journey, bringing some truly awesome people into my life and showing me what He can do with a few servants who are willing and don’t quit.”

Todd Mull

Todd Mull

Care Project Evaluator

Todd, a recognizable face to Care Project recipients and church Project Coordinators, is a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to home repair and maintenance. Todd participated in the very first Somebody Cares St. Augustine Carefest and has been active ever since, serving in his current role since 2007.

With a background in the private housing industry, Todd owned a flooring company for many years. His skill set and patience allow him to represent Christ honorably when evaluating a potential repair need in our community, be it for a wheelchair ramp at a senior residence or a roof leak for low-income housing.

Todd and his wife Valerie consider Anastasia 16 and Church on the Rock as their home churches. The core of their longtime bible study and life group have been together for over 20 years, having originated out of Homeport Christian Church. Why We Serve

“You are the light that gives light to the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden. And people don’t hide a light under a bowl. They put it on a lamp-stand so the light shines for all the people in the house.

In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in Heaven.”

-Matthew 5:14-16
