Eric has a passion for serving homeless students, having been forced at the age of 16 to live on his own. Luckily, he had a grandfather help him financially to keep him afloat and loving Christians who helped him through some very difficult years dealing with a parent who suffered from alcoholism while having to take care of himself. Being now a grandfather, he wants to return that love to homeless students. He feels his teenage experience has equipped him with both understanding and compassion needed to assist with unaccompanied youth.
Eric is a graduate of Indiana University (history with a minor in Business) and Roosevelt University (Graduate Legal Studies Program). After working as a paralegal for 2 years and another 2 years with The Economic Development Council/Chamber of Commerce in Fort Pierce, FL, he worked 26 years with Indian River State College as a reports coordinator and database administrator. He was a board treasurer of the St. Lucie County ARC and Chairman of the State Reports Coordinators in Florida.
Eric strongly supports Somebody Cares St. Augustine’s commitment to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the community. As Vice President of SCSA, he meets monthly with the county’s ASSIST program and Faith-based Advisory Council, helps coordinate support for the Evelyn Hamblen Center, presents scholarships to homeless students, and maintains the SCSA newsletter.
Eric has lived in St. Augustine for 7 years with his wife Stephanie. A regular attendee of Anastasia Church in St. Augustine Beach, Eric and his wife enjoy having their daughter, stepson, and 4 grandchildren all living near them in St. Augustine.
