For many years, Somebody Cares St. Augustine has been supporting the ASSIST Program within the St. Johns County School District. ASSIST serves students in homeless or transitional situations.
In February, we have were able to focus on helping a 12th grade student who has experienced homelessness for the last few years. He has been accepted to Flagler College and plans to begin taking classes there in the fall. We were able to cover his initial college deposit, assist with his phone bill, and provide him with a laptop. This support helps form a foundation for him to begin the process of creating a much brighter future for himself.
We intend to continue to support this student, in the name of Jesus, as we seek to support those students in our community who are in difficult situations. Our goal is to invest in their futures just as Christ invested in the future of others in need.
